You can have your pregnancy confirmed through a simple home pregnancy test. These are available at local pregnancy resource centers free of charge. Once you are sure you are pregnant you probably have a lot of questions. You may be feeling overwhelmed if you didn’t plan your pregnancy, or confused about what to do next. Once you are pregnant there is no “easy” choice however there are several options available and only you can decide what is best for you and your baby.
What Should You Expect From One World?
The first step is to call a pregnancy counselor or chat online free of charge. They can help you arrange a plan that works best for you. Your worker will ask you some initial questions to decide how we can help. You can expect to be treated with respect and know that all of your information is confidential.
Counseling:
Adoption counseling is available to you free of charge before and after you have your baby. Our counselors are here to help you figure out your next step and to provide the support and encouragement you need. You are never pressured into making a decision.
Financial Assistance:
The State of Georgia allows birth mothers to receive some financial assistance for pregnancy related expenses. This can include rent, doctors visits, maternity clothing etc. Your pregnancy counselor can go over this in detail during your intake interview.
The Process:
Once you have an initial intake with your pregnancy counselor you can begin to decide how you would like for you adoption process to go. For example you can decide how much or how little contact you would like with the adoptive family and your child, you can choose the adoptive family and decide how you would like your experience to go. You also have the option of being represented by your own attorney-at no cost to you. Our goal is to make your adoption experience as easy as possible and to honor your wishes.
