Hosting Programs

Open your heart to love a little boy or girl from another country!

UPDATE: The 2012 Summer Hosting  program is already in progress! The  first summer listing  for Latvia children is available now.  Ukraine will  be available early March. Please register here to get access to the list!

Around the world, there are over 143 million children in orphanages and foster care waiting for the love of a forever family. It is easy to look at the overwhelming needs of these children and feel helpless.

Join Project One Forty Three  and OWAS in changing that fear into action! All it takes is ONE decision, ONE step of faith, ONE idea, ONE donation to make a lasting difference in the life of an orphan.

Many of these children have never had, or cannot remember, a normal family life, a warm embrace, a game of catch or even a family vacation. Others are recent orphans due to unexpected circumstances in their lives. Unfortunately, most of the children are older than six years old, and with each passing year, are less likely to be adopted.

Together with Project One Forty Three and One World Adoptions, YOU CAN CHANGE THAT!

Project One Forty Three conducts 4-5 week summer (July-August) and winter (December-January) host programs for children from Latvia and Ukraine. The children that come for hosting are of all ages, but are generally of school age. Along with you, we help these children learn everyday social skills, receive an introduction to American culture, learn English and possibly change their lives forever. Through hosting, you can provide a child a first-hand experience of a healthy family life, unconditional love and affection—knowledge that no matter what the future holds, they have someone who cares.

One World Adoption Services is proud to work in partnership with Project One Forty Three who provides opportunities for orphans to visit the US and stay with host families. It is our hope that these children will eventually find their forever families through hosting, although host families do not have to be interested in adoption in order to host. You may choose to host because you have room in your home and hearts for a child, or you may decide that you can make a tremendous difference advocating for a host child.

Host family quotes from our Winter 2011 program:

The hosting program with Project 143 has been absolutely exceptional.  We are very in favor of this program and it has been wonderful to watch a child blossom while experiencing life in a family.

” The most rewarding part about this hosting experience is the way that it felt completely natural for the children to be a part of this family. It seemed as though they fit right in. It has been wonderful having them in our home, loving us, and allowing us to love them.”

I think the most rewarding part has been how our kids and the host kids have bonded.
This experience has also reminded me to look beyond myself, to see things through the eyes of a frightened child. In trying to help the host children feel comfortable, I found myself be a more relaxed, “fun” parent to ALL the children

This entire experience has been amazing, and one we will never forget. She will forever have a piece of our hearts. Seeing her experience new things, and have things of her own, and see her blossom has been so rewarding. This has also opened our eyes and hearts to adoption, especially adoption of an older child.”
