SPECIAL UPDATE ON HAITIAN ADOPTIONS: For those interested in beginning the process to adopt from Haiti, IBESR (Haitian Social Services) is currently taking new dossiers for adoptions. This is encouraging for those wanting to adopt. We currently have 70 children in the orphanage that are available for adoption. If you are interested in looking into the process, please contact us.

Children Available: The children available are Haitian, which means they are of African and French descent. Infants to older children are available. Due to the length of time it takes to complete an adoption in Haiti, parents should understand that they will not be able to bring home an infant.

Requirements:

• Childless, heterosexual married couples between the ages of 35-50 are eligible to adopt,• Childless, single heterosexual women who are living alone and between the ages of 35-50, are also eligible to adopt
• Length of marriage must be at least 10 years unless couple is infertile
• Applicants who are between the ages 45 - 50 must be willing to accept a toddler
• One previous divorce is accepted.
• Second marriages must be at least 10 years in length
• No more than 15 years age difference between husband and wife
• Preference is given to Christian families
• Families may have no more than 2 adopted children under the age of 18 living in their home and no biological children

Adoption Process: Families must complete a dossier to submit to the authorities in Haiti. Referrals are made upon submission of preliminary paperwork. Once a match has been made, parents may travel in approximately 24-36 months.

Travel: One or both parents must travel to Haiti twice. The first trip is approximately 3-4 days and the second trip is 1 day.

It is the policy of our agency that 100% of the donations made will directly benefit the orphaned children that we serve. No portion of the money is kept for administrative costs. The children available in Haiti are very young infants, toddlers and older children and are generally healthy. Special needs children are also available.
