Most of our families are matched within just a few months. Read our Frequently Asked Questions below to learn more about how our program works and why it is so successful.

An Overview of Infant Adoption:

Estimated Total Cost: The costs of a private agency adoption range from  $20,000 to $35,000. One World Adoption Services has a sliding fee scale based upon family income. Please email for more details.

Children Available for Adoption: Children adopted in the U.S. are usually Caucasian, African American, Hispanic, and biracial newborns.

Adoptive Parent Criteria: Most birth families select the family for their child. Some birth families prefer married couples, others are open to single parents.

Travel: The adoptive family must travel to the state where the baby is born. The laws of the state where the baby is born must be satisfied before the family can bring the child to their home state. Depending on the state where the baby is born, this may take from one day to several weeks.

Timeline: The average adoption can be completed within 12-24 months, compared to 1-4 years at many agencies.

Our Adoption Programs:

One World Adoption Services has two successful adoption programs to choose from depending on your family’s individual preferences.

Traditional Domestic Placement:

One World Adoption Services works one on one with birth mothers who are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Once a birth mother decides to place her baby for adoption, One World Adoption Services works to match her with an approved adoptive family. We work with both the adoptive parent(s) and the birthmother to make an adoption plan that works best for all involved.

This program is available to families from any state within the United States, and is one of the most affordable domestic programs available.

Domestic Consulting Program:

In this program, we work with a number of different agencies all over the US in order to locate a birthmother that matches with your family. Because of the number of agencies we work with, it can often be a quicker route to adoption than the Traditional Adoption Program.

One World Adoption Services has hundreds of contacts with adoption agencies, facilitators, attorneys, and other adoption professionals. As a prospective family, you will benefit from all of the resources available in our network, rather than limiting yourself to the options available at any one agency.

Once a match has been made, the adoption will then proceed with a licensed agency and/or attorney. We will help you locate an agency in your state that we work with if you do not have a home study.

Our Domestic Adoption Consulting service includes adoption education, marketing/advertising, assistance in designing a personal profile, networking and presentation of profile to birth parents, adoption agencies, adoption attorneys, and other adoption professionals until the families are connected in a successful adoption plan. The duration of the agreement is one year from the date the Domestic Consulting Agreement is signed. Families living in New York, New Jersey and Illinois are not eligible for this program.

***Families may work in both programs until a match is made.

Georgia Domestic Program

Agency fees are determined by applicant income on a sliding scale. This ranges from $12,500-$20,000. Additional costs may include legal fees and applicable birth parent expenses.

Where do the children come from?
Many of our contacts come from professional relationships with agencies, attorneys, the Internet, personal referrals, hospitals, churches, physicians, crisis pregnancy centers, newspaper ads, schools, and yellow pages.

What information will I receive on the birthmother?
The birthmother commonly fills out medical forms and signs a release allowing the agency or attorney assisting the adoptive parents access to her medical records. You may obtain information from the birthmother concerning medical and social history (including drug, tobacco, and alcohol use before and during the pregnancy), and the whereabouts of the alleged and presumed birthfather.

What is open adoption?
Essentially, this means that there will be some form of communication between the birth parent(s) and the adoptive parent(s). This can range from the birthmother choosing the couple she wishes to place her baby with and exchanging some form of communication with them, to an agreement to allow the birthmother to receive photos, letters, or even visits with the family. Sometimes birthparents and families request a closed adoption and do not wish to have any contact.

How long does it take to adopt?
The time to a successful match typically ranges from anywhere between 2 months to 12 months. The more flexible you are on issues such as age, gender, race, and adoption expenses – chances are that you will be matched much sooner. Depending on how far along the birthmother is in her pregnancy, the adoption could take an additional 8 months to complete once a match has been made.

Do we need a home study before we contract with you?
You will need a home study to complete your adoption, however you will not need one before you contract with us. You can work on your home study while we are searching for adoption situations for you. Please note: We cannot present you for any situation without a completed and approved homestudy.

Do you have a waiting list?
No. Adoptive families will be presented with every appropriate situation that we find for them, regardless of whether they just began the process of have been waiting.

Who can apply?
We understand that families come in all shapes and sizes. Because of this, we have fewer restrictions than most adoption agencies.  We have no requirements based on age, religious belief, number of children in the home, or sexual orientation.

How do we get accepted into the program?
We will review your application and determine if your family’s situation and preferences for adoption are something we can help you with. We will contact you within 72 hours to notify you of our decision.

Are all families successful in adopting?
There are no guarantees in adoption, however, many families that utilize the services of a networking agency are successful in their endeavor to adopt. We work very hard to make sure that every family has a successful adoption!
