About Our Agency

One World Adoption Services was founded by adoptive parents for adoptive parents. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and full service licensed adoption agency. One World Adoption Services has received Full Hague Accreditation from the Council on Accreditation.

One World Adoption Services offers a range of services including pre-adoption counseling, education, homestudies, assistance with dossier preparation, domestic and international adoptions, domestic adoption consulting, and post-placement follow up.

Our team of adoption professionals offer more than 30 years of combined experience placing children within the US as well as from several different countries. Most of our staff are adoptive parents themselves and are able to draw upon their own first hand experiences to assist you.

We work with singles and couples in all fifty states, US citizens living abroad, and Canadian citizens (international adoption only). One World Adoption Services does not discriminate based on marital status, religion, age, or sexual orientation. However, there may be other requirements by USCIS (Immigration), local, or foreign government that could effect eligibility.

ABOUT THE SERVICES WE OFFER:

At the beginning of the process, we will conduct an initial consultation to determine which countries would be good options for your family, as well as identify any limitations or restrictions. We offer programs in several countries; each has its own set of restrictions and each country’s adoption process is different. By identifying what types of considerations are most important, we will help you chose the best program for your family. A few things you will need to consider are overall cost, timeframes, travel required, the race of the child, and eligibility requirements in each program.

Once you have chosen a particular program, you will receive a dossier preparation package which includes a list of all the documents required for the adoption, instructions on how to obtain each document, and instructions on the authentication process. We will also assist you in completing the I-600A or I-800A and will begin the home study process. For out of state families: We will direct you to a home study provider in your state that can provide this service.

Our staff will provide personal assistance in completing the adoption paperwork. We have years of experience preparing adoption paperwork in more than ten countries, and can help you through any hurdles along the way. It takes approximately 3 months to complete the paperwork, though its possible in many cases to complete it in less time. We will also work your dossier preparation service should you decide to use one. Once your dossier is completed, we will review your documents to insure that your dossier is in order. We will then forward it onto the (child’s country of origin) coordinator or facilitator. We will notify you if there are any errors and will assist you in correcting them.

During your adoption process, we will serve as mediator between you, state and federal government, and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services and/or the National Benefit Center. We will also serve as the primary contact with the coordinator/attorney in the child’s country of origin. We will pass on information regarding your adoption case, as it becomes available from the child’s country of origin.

When your family is ready for the referral of a child or children, our staff will assist you in evaluating your referral(s), obtaining an evaluation from a doctor (if necessary), recommend reading materials, and/or refer you to other professionals. We are here to guide and assist you in this vey important decision, however, the final decision to commit to any child is ultimately yours.

We also will assist you with coordinating travel arrangements or group travel, and will provide you with information on how to get a passport, visa to the child’s country of origin, what travel documents to take, what to pack, and will let you know what you can and should expect during your trip. Our in country staff will coordinate your Consulate and visa appointments, prepare you for court (when applicable), arrange a medical exam for your child, coordinate travel within the child’s country of origin, and assist you with other travel related needs. Our in country staff will also be responsible for submitting your post adoption reports to the appropriate authorities.

Once you and your child(ren) have arrived home, we are here to support your family’s transition. We are available to you to help with any adjustment issues that may come up – or even for some common parenting strategies. From time to time, we also refer to other professionals on an as needed basis. Although your international adoption is final, we will continue to monitor your placement through post adoption reports.

Just as your child has become a part of your family, your family has become a part of ours. One World Adoption Services holds an annual Adoptive Families Reunion / Picnic each summer for adoptive families. It is a wonderful event for those who are considering adoption as well as those in process, and others who have completed their journey. We look forward to you joining our family !
